Another Quilt Camp Over...

Just wrapped up another successful Stitchin' Chicks Quilt Camp...and since I've been home, a nice long nap!  We dragged a car full of stuff in the house...made a pizza for lunch...started to watch the Vikings football game...and fell asleep until it was over!  But while I slept - we won!!!  Yay!

I was pretty worn out from our last two weekend Farmgirls sales so I came home with some dread disease...actually probably just a cold but ache all over, sore throat, yada, yada, yada. 

I finished two quilt tops - one for me for my nap time and one for my granddaughter Addy's nap and TV time!

Annie missed me - she took her post at the back door for a couple of days just waiting for me to come home...missed my little family.  January is our next camp and its 6 nights and 7 days...might have to have lunch with Hubby and Annie half way through camp!

Stitchin' Chicks Quilt Camp April 2012

The end of another successful quilt camp.  5 days and 4 nights of creativity and laughter and good eats!  Even though I had thought I would be learning more about my embroidery machine (machine needed to be repaired), I finished many projects and received orders to make more things.

It is amazing to spend almost a week with friends from all over the area.  The sharing of ideas and techniques is so much fun...some of the same stories are told at every camp and we laugh just as hard each time.  Now this time we've had vigorous discussions and they haven't been about politics because we can't go there and keep peace.  So day 2 was differences of opinions on TV shows, day 3 might have been book favorites or not, and then day 4 - can't remember - symptoms of this age I've reached.  But we know that nothing that is said will change our minds anyway!!!

So in an hour its back to normal life...tomorrow I get my sewing machine out of hock or the hospital.  Going 60 miles to pick it up means I get to shop at T.J. Maxx and eat at Panera.  Yay!  That would be my reward for making that trek.

Now its time to get very serious about getting those Farmgirls Country Sale projects created, fixed, painted, and priced!

Stitchin' Chicks at Quilt Camp

I'm back!  Four days with like-minded women creating fun stuff is invigorating except it makes me very tired.  I'm not bouncing back very fast even though each day I've been home has included an unscheduled nap!

I have a couple of things to show you that I worked on at camp this past weekend.  Some things were putzy and are not to my liking so I'm fixing them.  I will post them another day.

I was born in the 1940's and some fabric is just so nostalgic to me.  The fabric in this purse makes me remember those barkcloth curtains with the large flowers and fern fronds on our windows when I was young.  The colors are brighter now but still remind me of those days.  The purse is reversible with the polka dot fabric on the inside and the flower is a pin that can be attached to either side.

My new sewing machine worked great except on the clothesline bowl I made.  I have to research why the thread kept nesting on the backside.  Five years ago I received a little kit with the makings for this little flower pin.  Last week I finally made it - I thought it turned out so cute.  Not much fabric but lots of labor!

 but things kept going wrong!

We had a couple of inches of snow on the ground when I woke up this morning!  What month is it anyway???  It was all melted by this afternoon so that is hopeful. 

I'll say "Happy Easter" now in case I don't get another post done before Sunday!
