I Should Wait to Show You!

I should wait to show you the projects I'm working on but I can't!  It's two weeks until I need to have everything finished that I intend to sell at our Farmgirls Country Sale!  I do love this part!

I love Gerbera daisies!
I've been working on a vanity that needed some TLC.  Many times these treasures from the 1940's are veneer and many things are enemies of this thin, thin wood that is glued onto the base of the dresser.  So instead of gluing and clamping - I removed it because underneath is nice wood.  I can do this because I'm painting this vanity!

This vanity is so cool - but missing a handle!
Now we're getting somewhere!
My Hubby is working on another dresser.  We found the dresser and mirror at the same sale and soon they will be married...attached but not originally part of each other!  The dresser was stripped and the lovely round mirror just needed its veneer removed - too much was missing.  The mirror will remain circled with lovely decorative wood and the dresser will be black with wood handles.

Lot's of elbow grease!
An orphan mirror soon to be adopted!
See why I can't wait!  Both pieces will be done this weekend and then I will post the after pictures.  Woo hoo!  The pressure is on!

Do you have a fun hobby like this?

  1. Wow...what a transformation! I can truly appreciate the time it takes to refinish furniture...my MIL does this frequently. My hobby is the easy part - just shopping or beautiful finds like your dresser. I'm glad there are people like you and your husband who can recognize the true beauty underneath the veneers.

  2. How exciting !! I wish I lived closer so I could come to your sale !! You ae doing such a great job on the furniture, I can't wait to see it all finished !!

  3. Hey, this looks like fun. I won't be there for the spring sale...when is your fall sale? Maybe I could make that one...

  4. Thanks, Cindy and Steph! It is fun and today my daughter's family came over and we got rugs down and stuff moved around so we're edging closer!

Greatchen - our last sale is Sept. 2 & 3 - that would be fun. We'd be in our new little barn shop!

  5. Wow I love what you do... thats fabulous. Look forward to seeing the finished pieces... I wish I was nearer, I'd love to come to the sale x

  6. Hi! I'm Cindy Jensen's daughter, Kim. I love your blog - so many interesting things to look at! Have you ever gone to the blog called BetterAfter.blogspot.com? I think you'd really like it.
